Don’t Let Emotions Ruin Your Real Estate Deal

Buying and selling real estate is always emotional but you shouldn't let your emotions get the better of you.

Buying or selling real estate can be one of the most stressful you'll ever do. Between paperwork, life-changing decisions, constant phone calls, and too many appointments to meet, behavior by all parties can be misinterpreted. That's why it's so important to keep your emotions in check, regardless if you're selling or buying a home.

Home Sellers' Stress

Sellers have a particularly stressful experience due to the personal attachment they have to the home. Saying goodbye to the memories and experiences that happened there is difficult to do, making them extra-sensitive. Thus, criticism and judgment of their home is not taken well and can cause tension between the buyer and seller.

Home Buyers' Stress

Buyers have a more subtle type of anxiety. They are taking on a massive amount of debt by purchasing a home. Naturally, as it would be with anyone in that situation, they are nervous. Being on-edge leads to suspicion and negative interpretations - they may blurt out the wrong thing at the wrong time, make absent-minded mistakes, or nit-pick at the home in an attempt to find fault in it.

Again, remember to watch your words and emotions! Consideration goes a long way and in real estate, it's especially helpful, no matter if your role is as the buyer or seller.
